Yenagoa—A social commentator, Fortune God’sSon Alfred has lauded the decision by the Bayelsa State government to demolish an alleged illegal fence of Aridolf Hotel in Yenagoa, owned by a former first lady, Dame Patience Jonathan.
Fortune through his Facebook page noted that he is happy the fence was taken down, saying the action will send a strong signal to powerful people who want to flout state laws at will.
“I am glad to read reports online that the illegal fence of Aridolf Hotel and the other building close to it have been removed by the Bayelsa State Government. For long, I have been complaining about the impunity of Aridolf in deliberately extending their fence to the Isaac Boro road.
“So I commend the Government for finally taking the bull by its horn by removing that illegal fence that was a brazen challenge to the State’s resolve to act against the powerful when they deliberately violate State Laws.
“Nobody, no matter how powerful and connected, should be allowed to violate State laws with impunity, lest it encourages others to emulate same and breed anarchy, he said.
It was earlier reported that Dame Patience Jonathan has sent a letter of protest to the Bayelsa State Police Command over the alleged illegal demolition of her property, Aridolf Resort Wellness and Spa located in the Okaka area of the State capital.

It was reported that on Friday the call for the arrest of Alabo Ekeowe was a consequence of Friday’s destruction of the fence of the Hotel allegedly without due process and contrary to the Court order arising from the motion on notice instituted by the physical planning board.
Investigation revealed that while the Court ruled on the motion on notice, this Monday, the Bayelsa Command which is expected to jointly implement the received copy Friday morning, but the officials of the Board demolished it at about 3 pm on Friday without the police.
