Yenagoa—A group, the APC Integrity Group, has reacted to the rejoinder made by Mr. Daniel Alabrah, the chief press secretary to Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State to its earlier statement, describing it as false, misleading and irresponsible.
Alabrah, in a statement, had earlier denied allegations made by the group that the lecture halls project in the Bayelsa Medical University in Yenagoa was executed by the Seriake Dickson-led state government in partnership with TETFund.
The governor’s spokesman also challenged the group to contact TETFund for clarification, reiterating that the project was solely constructed by the Diri-led government.
But the group maintained that Alabrah’s claim that the lecture halls in the university campus were solely constructed by the Douye Diri-led administration is not only untrue but an act of irresponsible government.
Spokesman of the group, Mr Fred Ayabowei, in a statement obtained by Mangrovepen.ng insisted that the lecture halls executed by the Diri-led state government were projects done by the immediate past government to about 70% completion.
He stated that he is amazed to see a government that prides itself as a miracle government openly lying about petty issues, adding that the Diri-led state government is a bad omen to the state.
While presenting photographs of the level of work that was done on the structures by the immediate past administration as proof to buttress its claims, the group advised the state government to be sincere and transparent with Bayelsans.
The group also criticized the Diri-led state government for funding the construction of the BHIS offices with funds meant for the welfare of civil servants in the state, stressing that the fact the government used money meant for the BHIS for the capital project indicates financial imprudence.
The APC Integrity Group urged Bayelsans to hold Governor Diri accountable for the alleged misappropriation of the monthly federal allocation and internally generated revenue.
Ayabowei, however, expressed gladness for the Diri-led government to have admitted that the alleged commissioning of the Judges’ Quarters in Yenagoa by the previous administration which was reportedly attended by a federal lawmaker, Prof. Steve Azaiki, was only a flag-off ceremony of the project.
The statement thanked the staff and students of the medical school for making photographs of the building while under construction during the past administration available.
Bayelsans should get their PVCs ready to evict the prosperity government come 2023, the statement adds.
