Abuja—A group, the Bridge Builders Initiative For Green Nigeria (BBIGN), has lined out programmes to engage Nigerians.
The group which met in Abuja, the nation’s capital also brainstormed on ways to support Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, minister of transportation to emerge as the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate in 2023 and to win the presidential elections.
This was made known in a statement signed by Mr. Philip Aboje, special assistant to the group’s National President on Media.
National President of the group, Dr. Emmanuel Orgwu, who approved the programmes beginning from November 2021, in his remark, stated that with the programmes, Nigerians will be convinced that Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi is the right choice for the country’s top job.
“I thank you for suggesting meaningfully. I am sure that with what we have, we can convince Nigerians that the Minister of Transportation is the right choice come 2023.
“Though, the empowerment programmes and other physical projects, especially drilling five bole holes in each political/INEC ward will cost us money.
“It is a huge project and may seem unachievable, but with the strategies we have and the funding pattern, it is already a done deal. It is actually a big sacrifice we are making, but I want us to understand that we are doing it to promote Amaechi whom we want to be Nigerian President come 2023.
“Other empowerment and mobilization programmes will follow sequentially and simultaneously, especially reaching out to widows and orphans across the Local Government Areas of the Federation,” he was quoted as saying.
He also thanked members of the group for ensuring that they were elected officers of the party in the just concluded APC congresses.
His words, “I am happy and I thank you for making sure that our members across all states of the federation were elected into the party executive offices.
“Before the party congresses, we held a meeting and agreed that we must make efforts to ensure that our members emerge party executive officers from the wards, LGAs and states to enable us pursue, promote, project and protect the interest of Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi.
“Today, I am happy that we have achieved it. I got calls from different states, testifying the successes recorded. Today, we have four members of BBIGN who are party state chairmen. I have spoken with them and in our next meeting, they will be invited.
“We must also go out there to mobilize everyone, especially past and present political leaders and office holders. We need support to help the Honourable Minister of Transportation to emerge APC presidential candidate and win 2023 election.”
In his remarks, Chairman of Advisory/Patron Committee of the group thanked the National President, for being creative, knowledgeable and proactive.
Represented by Dr. Abdullazeez Bala, the Chairman assured the group of northern’s support in making sure Amaechi becomes the President to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari.
He pledged that the council will provide funds to make BBIGN programmes and projects achievable. He also stated that the north is for Amaechi and will speak at the right time.
In their separate speeches, the Deputy National President, Alhaji Adamu Hamzat Salihu and National Women Leader, Hajiya Salamatu Abdulkadir stated that Amaechi has sacrificed a lot and has done what no Nigerian will do for the northerners.
According to them, it will be unfair if President Buhari and northerners do not support Amaechi to become president in 2023.
Other speakers at the event are the vice presidents and coordinators of the various geo-political zones.
Meanwhile, the group agreed to commence its programmes with a geopolitical zonal town hall meeting.
