Former First Lady beats Alakija, Genevieve, others to emerge woman of the year

Abuja— IgbereTV Leadership Excellence Awards has awarded former First Lady of Rivers State, Dame Judith Ameachi as the woman of the year 2021.

According to organizers of the award, she defeated three other nominees, Viz; Folorunsho Alakija, the group managing director of the Rose of Sharon Group, Genevieve Nnaji, veteran nollywood actress, Amina Mohammed, deputy secretary-general of the United Nations in an online poll conducted by IgbereTV.

Mrs. Ameachi who is the founder and head of Empowerment Support Initiative (ESI), a platform that campaigns for the awareness of HIV/AIDS, advocates the rights of women and children and promotes gender equity and girl child education, was nominated for the award for her charitable works and philanthropic activities.

Lady Esther Giadom, the wife of the former acting chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who received the award on her behalf alongside other Rivers State contingent at the award ceremony, said the award is a testament of her goods works and contribution to the development of the country.

She thanked the organizers of the award and Nigerians for finding Dame Judith Ameachi fit for the ward.

Lady Giadom further expressed gratitude to God for the life of Dame Judith and also congratulated her for an award well-deserved. gathered that the award which was held at Sheraton Hotels and Towers Abuja on Tuesday was graced by many dignitaries, including Senator Shehu Sani.
