Aiteo Cup Victory: youth development center lauds teams and Governor Diri

Yenagoa—The leadership of Bayelsa State Center for Youth Development, has congratulated the Bayelsa State government for the role they played in the emergence of Bayelsa United and Bayelsa Queens as champions of the Aiteo Cup competition.

This was contained in a statement by the secretary of the center, Barr. Igbeta Ayebakuro and made available to Mangrovepen.ng.

He stressed that it was the moral booster and motivation the government provided for the teams in the run-up to finals that made the teams emerge victoriously.

He maintained that it was the experience Governor Douye Diri gathered as Commissioner for Youth and Sports that he applied in charging the teams to victory.

His words: “Indeed it is true that when preparation and experience meet opportunity in leadership, the people will begin to prosper and see results in all ramifications.

“It is recorded in the annals of our history, how the Governor had prepared himself for leadership for over two decades since the creation of our dear State.

“One of such was when he mounted the Ministry of Youth & Sport as a Commissioner, thereby garnering a wealth of experience.

“This experience armed him with the needed tools to revamp and turn around the fortunes of Bayelsans in almost all sectors of their economic life.”

Igbeta equally expressed gratitude to the respective teams’ management boards, technical crews and players for their determination.

He also thanked the supporters, sportswriters and journalists for their support, which he said provided the “needed psychological stability” for the teams.

The statement further encouraged youths across the state to be resourceful and put their skills to good use.

“We want to also seize this opportunity to encourage our youths who are skilled in diverse ways to see this as a challenge and never to give up.

“This is just a tip of the iceberg of the many programmes that would be unleashed soonest by this government,” he assured.
