Easter is recognized as a Christian festival that commemorates the resurrection of Jesus Christ. The festival falls on April 4 this year and will be celebrated across the globe.
It is essentially marked three days after the crucifixion, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ on the cross of Calvary.
The history of this practice dates back to AD. 325, when the early Christians began to remember the celebration every Sunday, following the death of Christ.
According to the New Testament, the foundation of Christian faith reflects the resurrection of Jesus Christ, hence the commemoration of Easter.
_So, why is Easter significant to Christians?_
1. It Offers Salvation to Mankind
Christ’s resurrection has brought salvation to mankind. If he was still dead he would not have possibly saved the world from sin and death. So, because he is alive, the salvation of man is certain.
God’s people are no longer condemned because according to Romans 8:2 _”The law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made us free from the law of sin and death”._
2. Easter Offers Victory Over Sin
Through the death and resurrection of Christ, mankind is dead to sin. Since resurrection has brought everyone to Christ, people can now boldly stand to condemn sin. Of course, anyone can be tempted but Christ has already destroyed the power of sin on the cross of Calvary. He defeated sin and death by His resurrection so, it has no dominion over any man or woman. (Romans 6:14).

3. God Shares His Riches and Glory
No matter the difficulties you go through in life, or the crises on the earth, you can build in the hope Christ’s resurrection has offered mankind. As you identify with Him, there is the hope of victory over every challenge. He has also promised victory because He shares His riches and other divine benefits. This hope gives us confidence and assurance as we live.
4. There is Hope of Eternity with God
Because Jesus Christ resurrected on the third day, there is an assurance that He will return.
Therefore, it should be noted that those who died in Christ will be raised at that time, and death will not hold them back.
Also, those who are alive will catch up with Christ when he returns. They will be joined with those who were raised from the dead to reign with Christ forever.
Happy Easter to you and your loved ones. I encourage you to celebrate this festival in happiness and gratitude for all that Christ’s death and resurrection have done for and offered mankind.
