Francis Biobarakuma Foundation has expressed profound appreciation to all participants, speakers, partners, sponsors, and volunteers for making the maiden Nembe-Se youth leadership summit a success.
The event which was themed “Empowering Tomorrow’s leaders: Building Resilient communities and transformative leadership,” was organized by the Francis Biobarakuma Foundation on Friday, May 30th, 2025, at Nembe City Hall, Bayelsa State.
Mangroveoen.ng gathered that the summit was to enable young persons take charge of their lives through innovative strategies and good mentorship, from high profile leaders from every walks of life with incredible knowledge, skills and experience to offer.
It also brought together youth leaders, stakeholders, and subject-matter experts to discuss innovative strategies for leadership development and sustainable community transformation.
The keynote address, originally scheduled to be delivered by Hon. Tokini Igoin Peter, was presented by Mr. Prince Ebi Etolor on his behalf, this was after the founder of the Francis Biobarakuma Foundation, Engr. Francis Biobarakuma, delivered a heartfelt welcome address, setting the tone for the day’s activities.
Later, Greatman Badom gave a presentation on “Building Resilient Communities: Strategies for Sustainable Growth, ” emphasizing inclusive development through community engagement, support for local businesses, technology adoption, and climate resilience.
David Ekiprebo Alfred presented on “Transformative Leadership: Shaping the Future through Vision and Innovation”, encouraging youths to lead with purpose and tenacity.
Hon. Gifted Natus, represented by Ozu Importance, spoke on “Economic Empowerment and Leadership”, advising youths to prepare actively for emerging opportunities.
Miracle Sylvester Ubah delivered a compelling presentation on “Inclusive Leadership: Ensuring Diversity and Representation in Decision-Making,” urging young leaders to uphold integrity, inclusiveness, and people-centered leadership.
The summit also included Health and Education Initiatives where Pharmacists Akono Preye and Faith Obi offered an enlightening health talk on Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs), educating youths on prevention, symptoms, and available treatments.
In addition, free condoms and lubricants were distributed, accompanied by advocacy on abstinence and safe practices.
There was also a dynamic panel discussion featuring Enibo Albert, Barrister Ayebakuro Igbeta, and Mr. Zige Doubara (represented by Mr. Oyel Ramedia), who explored pressing issues around leadership, youth empowerment, and the responsible use of social media.
The summit also included a special birthday celebration for Barrister Ayebakuro Igbeta, complete with a cake-cutting ceremony, heartfelt prayers, and camaraderie among participants.
In a landmark gesture, an Award of Excellence was also presented to Miss Enu Blessing, who scored 300 in the just concluded Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) exams where it was reported that 90% of candidates scored below 200.
She was also offered a scholarship award by the foundation.
The following were the summit outcomes:
-A renewed and collective commitment to community development and visionary leadership.
-The identification and recommendation of innovative, home-grown solutions to address local challenges.
-The emergence of a network of dynamic young leaders equipped with practical tools and knowledge.
-The cultivation of transformed leaders driven by purpose, values, and resilience.
The summit also witnessed the launch of a pilot agricultural initiative, aimed at supporting five individuals, including persons with disabilities, in cultivating pepper and vegetables in sacks—a sustainable approach aligned with climate-smart agriculture.
Call to Action:
To the people of Nembe-Se, building strong leaders requires shared responsibility. We therefore urge:
-Community involvement in local development initiatives.
-Support for youth empowerment and leadership programs.
-Adoption of sustainable practices to mitigate climate change.
The foundation urged all Nembe persons to rise in unity and make Nembe-Se great.
