Ijaw National Academy wins 1st Tech-Girl Champ Science Quiz Competition

Yenagoa—The Ijaw National Academy, Kaiama has won the 1st Tech-Girl Champ Science Quiz Competition organized by IGNITE, an NGO in partnership with the Bayelsa State Ministry of Education, Zenith Bank and United States Consulate Lagos.

The event which was held at the Dappa Biriye Conference Center, Golden Tulip Hotel, Onopa, Yenagoa is geared towards encouraging future generations of the Girl-Child to pursue a career in Technology, also creates the awareness that girls can have a successful career in science and technology, increase the number of girls in science classes, among others.

Bayelsa State Commissioner of Education, Dr. Gentle E. Emelah in a post on his official Facebook page stated that the government will continue to invest in the educational sector of the state from the Primary, Secondary and Tertiary levels.

According to him, “Technology has been introduced in our Primary Schools through the Bayelsa Prime project, we are in partnership with Microsoft to also uplift the Secondary school sector technologically.

“May I sincerely appreciate His Excellency, Sen. Douye Diri Executive Governor of Bayelsa State and His Excellency, Sen. Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State for always supporting the development of Education.

“May I also congratulate all the participating schools for putting up an excellent display assuring them that as a government we are optimistic of better results as we continue to invest in education which is the bedrock of every society.”

He thanked Zenith Bank and the United States Consulate, Lagos for collaborating with the Ministry of Education in making the competition a success.
