Abuja—The Inter-Ministerial Task Team (IMTT) on training and certification of 500,000 public servants in digital literacy and skills has been launched on Wednesday, 10th May 2023 in Abuja.
In his speech delivered at the Bureau of Public Service Reforms (BPSR) Conference Room, the President/CEO, of Digital Bridge Institute, (DBI), Prof. Mohammed Ajiya commended the BPSR for the wonderful initiative.
He stated that the launch of the IMTT was a clear demonstration of the BPSR’s foresight and proactive approach to addressing the digital skills gap that exists among public servants in Nigeria.
He said the enhancement of the digital skills and competence level of public servants have become imperative; especially in today’s world where organizational processes are hugely dependent on ICT tools and platforms.
He further noted that government operations and processes significantly impact all other sectors of the nation.
The DBI Boss therefore, said building the digital competence and capacity of public service officers would go a long way to simplify government operations, eliminate bottlenecks and deliver the needed value-added services to the public and private sectors.
He added that the activities of government are constantly evolving with increasing demands from internal and external stakeholders for quality service delivery.
Ajiya concluded his speech by saying that there was no better time for such a program as it would help equip public servants with the right skills.
According to him, the program also lines up with the tenets of the National Digital Economy Policy and Strategy (NDEPS) and the digital economy vision of the Federal Ministry of Communication and Digital Economy in this era of global adoption of emerging technologies.
“It is pertinent to state that one of the major outcomes of this training would be that the Nigerian Public Servants would be positioned to deliver services using emerging technology applications and solutions that would lead to national transformation,” he stated.
