Ex-agitators congratulate Ndiomu, Tompolo, call for continuous empowerment of ex-agitators

Yenagoa—The Third Phase ex-agitators of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP) have congratulated the newly appointed Interim Administrator of the programme, Maj. Gen. Barry Tariye Ndiomu (rtd).

In a statement signed by their national leader, ‘General’ Tonye Bobo on Tuesday, the ex-agitators lauded the appointment of Ndiomu and pledged their support for his reign.

“We join other patriots in the Niger Delta, to felicitate with one of our own on his new appointment and pledge the group support to the new boss of the programme.”

The ex-agitators commended the impact of PAP so far, adding that the various pieces of training sponsored by the amnesty office have successfully harnessed the potential of the delegates.

However, they called on Ndiomu to consolidate the achievement of his predecessors as well as to sustain the prompt payment of the monthly stipends to delegates.

The Niger Delta ex-freedom fighters also appealed to Ndiomu to give priority to the deployment of more delegates to acquire skills and educational scholarships to study in tertiary institutions within and outside the country.

They equally urged the new amnesty boss who is also the Special Adviser on Niger Delta Affairs to the President to look into the issue of the verification exercise of ex-agitators, this according to them is to ascertain the genuine 30,000 ex-agitators that were captured as beneficiaries.

The statement further urged Niger Delta youths and stakeholders to be forthright in maintaining the relative peace in the region and give maximum support to Ndiomu to succeed and deliver on his new assignment.

In another development, the Third Phase ex-agitators of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP) have tasked Government Ekpemupolo alias Tompolo to prevail on relevant authorities to commence the documentation of Third phase ex-agitators who have embraced the programme but are yet to be captured.

The ex-agitators said the documentation has become necessary because of the sorry condition of some of their members since embracing the programme.

A statement signed by Bobo Tonye lauded the recent pipeline surveillance contract awarded to Tompolo and pledged their support to work with him to succeed.

They urged Tompolo to ensure that the Third Phase ex-agitators get their fair share as beneficiaries of the contract while cautioning their counterparts against going back to the creeks to engage in illegal oil bunkering activities.
