Ijaw religious leader lauds ex-agitators for withdrawing fake allegations against NNPC director, Adokiye

Yenagoa—Ex-Niger Delta agitators have been commended for embracing peace after a reported feud bordering on fake allegations against the management of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).

The commendation was made by an Ijaw religious leader, Apostle Bodmas Kemepadei on Friday via his spokesman, Amadi Obiageli.

It was gathered that the Niger Delta Liberation Movement (NDLM) had been balkanized into two factions following a series of purported fictitious petitions and false claims against the NNPC Group Executive Director (Upstream), Mr. Adokiye Tombomieye, over an alleged breach of public trust by the faction led by one Oyinemi Bodmas.

Kemepadei who was said to have quickly intervened in the feud and called a truce between warring parties stated that the contending issues that led to the misunderstanding had been resolved internally and peace has been restored.

He disclosed that the factional group had apologized and withdrawn all petitions, with its members fully reintegrated back into the parent body led by Oyinemi Bodmas.

Shedding light on the development, Kemepadei maintained that Adokiye’s contribution to the maintenance of peace in the region cannot be overemphasized.

He urged the people of the region to support him to succeed in the good work the NNPC director has been doing for the region.

Kemepadei also commended Adokiye for not resorting to arrest and prosecution of the youths who called him unprintable names but instead only cautioned them against blackmails, threats, and issuing uninformed statements.

He, however, warned youths to desist from actions that would amount to defamation of character which is a punishable offense by law.

The Ijaw activist further commended the Group Managing Director of the NNPC, Mele Kyari, for sustaining the experienced peace in the Niger Delta region and for supporting stakeholders to build a united Nigeria.

He also appealed to prominent Niger Delta leaders to embrace peace and promote peaceful coexistence in the region.
