I am pursuing a career in fashion, arts; no plans of going into medicine, Yerins reveals

Lagos—Yerimene Abraham, a former Big Brother Naija (Shine Ya Eye) housemate also known as Yerins, says he has currently put his career as a medical doctor on hold, for now, to pursue a career in fashion and the arts.

In an interview with the Sunday Scoop, the Bayelsa-born celebrity asserted that “I have always loved fashion. The creativity that goes into fashion is so relaxing and boundless. I will unveil my fashion brand next year.

“I have also been working on several things. But for now, I am focusing on my art exhibition which would be held soon.

“I have plans to go into the medical field. Not as a practicing doctor, but as a researcher. However, that would not be happening anytime soon.

“I studied Medicine and Surgery in Ukraine and I am certified to practice in all participating countries of the Hague Convention of 1961.

“My medical degree has a stamp of Apostille which allows me the right to practice, of course after writing their country examinations, in over 111 countries, including the United States of America, the United Kingdom and South Africa. But, Nigeria and Ghana are excluded from the list.

“I came back to Nigeria to pursue a creative career, rather than going further in the medical profession. I got back to Nigeria in late 2019 and finally settled down in 2020. Since then, I started my fashion brand, worked on a digital App and finished artwork.

“I have also written two books. One of them will be distributed to university and secondary school students for free in the coming months.”

Yerins who shared his thoughts about celebrities who show off on social media, also revealed that he still maintains a cordial relationship with his former housemates in the show.

His words, “It is true that I recently made a social media post about celebrities living a fake life, but I was not referring to anyone in particular.

“Rather, I was giving advice. Sometimes, the truth could be hard to consume but I stand by what I said. I think celebrities should live their lives without trying to impress anyone.”

“I am friends with almost all the housemates but I am closer to Niyi. I do not think there is anyone in particular I would not want to do anything with. They are all different and unique in their own ways, and when the need arises, I believe each can provide unique assistance.”
