Those dragging Governor Diri’s name to Baraza travails don’t mean well for Bayelsa, group declares

Yenagoa—A sociopolitical group, the Prosperity Pilot Initiative (PPI), has urged Bayelsans to be mindful of malicious stories hellbent on tarnishing the image of Governor Douye Diri and the Bayelsa State government.

Secretary of the group, Barr. Austin Adigio, in an interview with Mangrovepen.ng, stated that one of the objectives of the PPI is to educate and engage Bayelsans on the truth at all times.

He opined that a nation built on falsehood cannot enjoy lasting peace and prosperity.

According to him, “We find it ridiculous and unimaginable for anyone to insist that the prosperity government is involved in the affairs of Baraza Multipurpose Cooperative Society.

“Baraza is a private business and we all know the CEO of the company. It is wrong to drag Governor Douye Diri into the controversies surrounding a cooperative being run by private citizens.

“We all know who Diri was before he became Governor. There is no record showing that he has ever been involved in funny deals.

“As a teacher, manager of youths, Commissioner of Sports, Principal Executive Secretary, Deputy Chief of Staff Government House, Member of House of Representatives and even as a Senator he served and lived behind an impeccable record.”

Recounting the days of Diri as a conscious advocate and fighter of the Ijaw struggle, through the Ijaw National Congress (INC), Adigio also harped on the sincere and good conduct of the deputy governor, Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo.

He equally harped on the integrity of the Chief of Staff Government House,  Benson Agadaga, the Secretary to the State Government Kombowei Benson and members of the State Executive Council.

His words, “Going forward, such malicious stories may be coming to the fore as those who are hellbent on tarnishing the image of the governor and the government are not likely to give up until they achieve their aim.

“I, therefore, advise right-thinking and patriotic Bayelsans to always read in between the lines to confirm the veracity of such claims whenever they crop up.

“Baraza has caused enough problems to the state in recent times, therefore nobody should drag the statement government to its self-inflicted travails.”
