PDP felicitates Bayelsans, rallies support for candidates

Yenagoa—The Bayelsa State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has wished all Bayelsans, especially its teeming loyalists and supporters across the state, a happy, rewarding and fulfilling year.

The party made this known in a New Year message sent to journalists by Mr. Ebiye Ogoli, State Publicity Secretary.

The statement reads in part:

“That Bayelsa State PDP heartily wishes all Bayelans, indigenes, and residents, especially our teeming, committed, and unshakable supporters and loyalists a happy, prosperous, fulfilling, and rewarding New Year, 2023.

“That we are fully aware, that this 2023 is an election year which presents to us yet another golden opportunity to renew our pact with citizens via the electoral process and reaffirm our trust and prayers, through the ballot box, for our chosen candidates to be given a fresh mandate, to continue to deliver prosperity and other dividends of democracy to our people.

“Considering the legendary performance on key infrastructure projects in Yenagoa metropolis and across the three senatorial districts and coupled with the charismatic, peace-loving, humane, leadership style of the State Chief Executive which had endeared him to so many; we now know for a fact that PDP is the party of choice in the next round of elections.

“We are profoundly grateful that Bayelsans have safely bought into the Governor’s mantra of “We are first Bayelsans before political party affiliations.”

“This moral high ground espoused by His Excellency clearly re-echoes the primacy of the historical ties and bond we all share as one Ijaw people, reminding ourselves that never again, should we contemplate on taking the lives of our fellow brothers and sisters owing to differences in political party affiliation. We demand that citizens be freely allowed to cast their ballot for their preferred candidate(s) without let or hindrance.

“Interestingly too, we shall not fail to remind ourselves of the abysmal failure of the APC federal government at the centre. Clearly, our national life has witnessed widespread dislocation and retrogression in all sectors but we are most hard hit in the economic frontier as a result of the galloping inflation forcing many persons to ‘japa’ out of the country at every given opportunity.

“Nigerians are now the laughing stock even in Africa but we plead for citizens not to despair as the PDP is poised once again to take over, rescue and restore Nigeria to its former glory.”

The statement insisted that PDP that it is the most prepared, organized, and beloved party.

The PDP also appealed to Bayelsans and Nigerians in general to vote massively for the Atiku/Okowa Presidential ticket and all its National and State Assembly candidates in this year’s general election.

While declaring that 2023 will be a year of more consolidation for prosperity and development for the state, they further urged Bayelsans to continually support the Douye Diri-led administration in the state.
