Group lauds Bayelsa rep, Obua for establishment of Oloibiri Oil and Gas Museum, other projects

…says zoning is non-existent in Ogbia

Ogbia—A group, the Ogbia PDP Frontiers for Continuous Prosperous Representation of Hon. Azibapu Fred Obua has expressed appreciation to the member representing Ogbia Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Azibapu Fred Obua for facilitating the establishment of the Oloibiri Oil and Gas Museum and Research Centre.

The group stated that the project site which is being cleared to begin construction work was established by a Bill sponsored by the lawmaker through House Bill 391 as captured in the National Assembly Journal Number 57, Volume16, dated 23rd October 2019.

In a statement by its Spokesperson, Comrade Joe Emiebo the group pointed out that Obua presented the Bill for the establishment of the Oloibiri Oil and Gas Museum and Research Centre on the 22nd of October, 2019 and has since passed second reading and referred to the Committee on Petroleum Resources (Upstream) and Gas on the 20th of December 2019.

The constituents averred that given the importance of the project, the Bayelsa Caucus of the House of Representatives on the 6th of July, 2020 met with relevant federal government officials to fine-tune its timely take-off.

The group noted that Ogbia people are aware that Obua is the major facilitator of the project, adding that no amount of negative publicity can change it.

“Those who are intimidated by the unequalled representation Obua has provided to the Ogbia people should stop their failed attempt to discredit him.”

Obua, a former Commissioner for Special projects in Bayelsa State, a retired Director in the Federal and State Civil Service and a Chartered Quantity Surveyor according to the group is never desperate to lay false claims to gain political mileage but allows his achievements to speak for him.

The statement also commended Obua for sponsoring a bill for the establishment of the Federal College of Education Elebele-Ogbia, presentation of motion on the floor of the House which led to the inclusion of the construction of the Ogu-Anyama-Okodi -Emadike road in the budget, continuous facilitation of people-oriented infrastructural projects, amongst others.

The group affirmed that “the generality of Ogbia people want Obua to return to the House of Representatives, indicating that zoning for the position of the member of the House of Representatives in Ogbia is non-existent.

“Records also show that Obua’s contender in the 2019 general election was from another constituency.

“Previous efforts made by former federal lawmakers from Bayelsa East Senatorial District and Ogbia Federal Constituency in their time and the current efforts being made by others do not mean that the appreciable actions Obua should be undermined for unjustifiable reasons given his capacity as a legislator who has sponsored the Bills while others moved motions.”
