Stop meddling in Brass Constituency 2 politics, group tells Diri’s Deputy Chief of Staff

Brass—A support group of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Bayelsa State, the Prosperity Ambassadors of Brass Constituency 2, have called on the Deputy Chief of Staff, Government House, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, Peter Akpe not to meddle in the affairs of Brass Constituency II.

The group alleged that Akpe is making frantic moves in Government House to foist an unpopular candidate on members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Brass Constituency II.

In a statement signed by its coordinator, Ebitimi Inarusai, Secretary Bewori T. Amakiri and sent to mangrovepen.ng, the group expressed that “It is infuriating that a man from Sagbama Local Government Area will want to influence who becomes a flagbearer in Brass Local Government Area.

“For the records, we are not only bonafide members of the PDP but crusaders of the prosperity vision of our miraculous governor, His Excellency Senator Douye Diri who has reiterated his desire to see popular candidates flying the party flag in the 2023 general elections.

“His uncovered plan of influencing a candidate, if actualized, can destabilize the unity of the party in the area, because we are PDP faithful who have laboured with our sweat and blood in an APC-dominated area like Brass.”

The group urged Governor Diri to quickly check the alleged meddlesome activities of Akpe whose aim, the group insists, is to work against the emergence of a popular candidate to emerge the PDP flagbearer.

They averred that his activities may negatively affect the fortunes of the PDP in the constituency, knowing that it is the root of the main opposition party (APC) in the state.

“We are happy with the democratic disposition that the Governor has exhibited so far, therefore we plead with him not to allow meddlesome interlopers to distort the fragile peace and unity that is prevailing.”

The group noted that it is the only way a widely-accepted candidate can emerge in the primary and take over power from the APC in the general elections.

“Akpe has enough problems in his hometown Ebedebiri where young politicians like Mike Olomu of the APC are running rampage and giving them a sleepless night.

“He should rather invest his time in the political fight in Ebedebiri by rallying support for the party and steer clear of Brass politics,” the group advised.

Messages sent to Akpe to get his response were not answered as of the time of filing this report.
