Ogbia community honours House of Rep member, Obua, describes his representation as impactful

Emeyal 1—The Obanema-in-council, chiefs, elders, stakeholders, women and youths of Emeyal 1 community in Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State on Sunday, honoured Hon. Azibapu Fred Obua, member representing Ogbia Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.

The lawmaker was honoured at a special event for his impactful works, love and sacrifice in the constituency.

His Royal Highness, Jephthah Ogba Wolisi, the paramount ruler of Emeyal 1 community in his remarks at the event which took place at the community town hall stated that the entire community decided to appreciate Obua for his renovation of the community town hall, provision of convenience facility for women and donation of chairs.

According to the paramount ruler, the community is also honouring him for the renovation/construction of the community’s potable water system, facilitation of the construction of internal roads, and provision of solar-powered street lights, among others.

Wolisi who presented gift items to Obua on behalf of the community expressed gratitude to him. While praying for his victory at the polls, he assured the lawmaker of the community’s support.

Responding, Obua thanked the paramount ruler and community for the honour accorded him, stating that it will spur him to continue to do more for his constituents.

Obua who is a former Commissioner for Special Projects in Bayelsa State and a retired Director in the federal and state Civil Service reiterated that he is in the House of Representatives purely for service.

He stated that his presentation of a Bill in the House has resulted in the ongoing construction of the Oloibiri Oil and Gas Museum and Research Centre.

The lawmaker also highlighted the passage of the Federal College of Education Elebele-Ogbia Bill, which is awaiting presidential assent for take-off, the inclusion of the Ogu-Anyama-Okodi-Emadike road in the budget, continuous attraction and facilitation of People-oriented infrastructural projects to communities as well as provision of empowerment packages to constituents as some of his accomplishments.

Obua who is the Deputy Chairman House Committee on Information, National Orientation, Ethics and Values was accompanied by several stakeholders and well-wishers.

He extolled the appreciative nature of the Ogbia people, averring that it is as a result of the same appreciation of the effective representation he has offered the Ogbia people that prompted the unanimous call on him to recontest for a second tenure.

Meanwhile, the lawmaker had earlier ccompanied Senator Douye Diri, Governor of Bayelsa State to celebrate world workers’ day. He used the opportunity to extol the great contributions of workers to the development of society. He commended the prosperity administration for prioritising the welfare of workers in the state.
